The Washington Seminar selects well-qualified students from all majors to have an applied learning experience in Washington, D.C. Through a quality internship, briefings on current national issues, tours, and excursions, interns gain a valuable supplement to their academic training and the chance to be better prepared for their careers.

If you have already arranged your own internship and would like to participate on the Washington Seminar, read about the process first, and then click this button.
To apply, complete the online application. Applications are reviewed by the Washington Seminar Advisory Board which recommends faculty candidates to the Dean of the College of Family, Home and Social Sciences, who is responsible for making the final appointment.
How do we request BYU interns?
Brigham Young University requests that all organizations accepting its students as interns sign a Master Internship Agreement. The agreement includes a $1,000,000 commercial liability insurance policy provided by BYU at no cost to the internship provider. Modified versions of the agreement are available for federal agencies and congressional offices. For information about these versions please write to scott.dunaway@byu.edu.
