D.C. Internship Secured & Applying to Participate on the Washington Seminar

If you have already secured an internship in Washington, D.C. and wish to participate on the Washington Seminar during the semester of the internship, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a currently enrolled BYU student who has completed (or will have completed during the semester of the application deadline) at least one semester of course work at BYU.
  • You must have a confirmed internship in the Washington, D.C. area that meets the Washington Seminar internship criteria.
  • Freshmen may not participate on the Washington Seminar and cannot be granted credit for the internship.
  • You must agree to comply with all policies of the BYU Washington Seminar, including completion of the preparatory course prior to the beginning of the internship.
  • You must be enrolled as a full-time BYU student during the semester or term you will be on the Washington Seminar.

Application deadlines--
You should apply as early as possible, but no later than:

  • Fall semester - August 1
  • Winter semester - December 1
  • Spring term or Spring-Summer terms combined - April 1
  • Summer term only - June 1

Application procedure:

  • If not on your computer, install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader by clicking here.
  • Access the Washington Seminar application packet by clicking below.
  • Carefully read the application packet cover sheet and follow all instructions.
  • Using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software compete the application forms. You will be able to type directly on to the .pdf form from your computer.
  • Print the application packet and all completed forms, sign where indicated and submit to 944 SWKT; or send completed forms as an email attachment in .pdf form to washington.seminar@byu.edu, come to 944 SWKT to sign forms.
  • You will be contacted to schedule an applicant interview. Do not assume your application has been received and accepted unless you have been scheduled for the interview.
