Barlow Speaker Series ~ Senator Orrin Hatch

“Read the Book of Mormon… it’s the greatest evidence that Christ lives,” declared Senator Orrin Hatch, R-UT., addressing 120 young adults considering careers in public service.

The devotional was part of the Milton A. Barlow Speaker Series, providing an opportunity for business and governmental leaders to discuss how their faith impacts their service.

At age seventeen Hatch read the Book of Mormon and learned for himself that it is true.

Senator Hatch addressing the students

Hatch recalled a lecturer from long ago who tried in vain to disprove God’s existence using various theories.  The Senator used one scripture in the Book of Mormon to answer each doubt. “Alma 30:44 gives the theological argument more concisely than anyone has said it.”

“I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God.  The fact of the matter is this is something I know to be true… It will uplift your life.”

Senator Hatch has been in the U.S. Senate since 1977 and has taken the lead to address national medical issues.  He is the father of six and enjoys writing songs.
