Friday Presenter Series |
The students of the Washington Seminar program have every Friday off during their internship to experience the various culture-enriching activities that can be found in and around the D.C. area and to attend the Friday presenter series. The series gives the students a unique look into the various aspects of government interaction—from within the three branches of government and from those outside. Speakers from previous semesters included members of Congress, lobbyists, lawyers from nationally recognized firms, and many other significant individuals. There were over 20 enlightening presenters during fall 2008.

A Relaxing and Enriching Experience |

By Kimberly Bennett |
Honorable Thomas Griffith, U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit

Lt. Colonel Eric T. Jensen, Chief International Law, Office of the Judge Advocate General, Department of the Army Subject: Geneva Convention, treatment of prisoners of wars and other combatants
Bob King, Staff Director, House Foreign Affairs Committee; Kay King, Parliamentary Affairs, Office of the Speaker |

All of the presentations helped the students to gain a better understanding of the national and global community that they all live in. Many students felt that the Washington Seminar program would not have been as fulfilling without these presentations. The future semesters will bring new presentations that will continue to enlighten and enlarge the students’ minds. |
